What to wear for family photos for your 30a beach portrait session.

Beach photo outfit ideas? Glad you asked! The answer is not a simple one. Some might say to just all wear white. While you can do that, not everyone looks great in white. Many years ago the standard for a beach photo was white and/or white and khaki. Truthfully, it was the easiest to match ha. It’s a nice classic clean look.

But I personally love contrast. The beach sand is already white. I like some color mixed in. Not a TON of color. Pops of color. I always say to select colors like you’d decorate with in your living room. Some neutrals with pops of color.

What color outfits do you want to see on your wall? What colors make you happy? That is what you choose. I really love at least one person to wear a print mixed in with some solids. That makes it feel balanced to me.

Blues/teals look amazing on the beach as a contrast to the sand. One person wearing Coral looks incredible. But Coral is hard to match… so its easier to match in a print or use complementary colors. Truly Pinterest wins at seeing color combos.

I WILL say… to keep the colors balanced. That does NOT mean every one to wear khaki on the bottom and navy shirts. If 5 people, mom, dad, 2 boys and 1 girl… this is what I’d do as far as balance. You can replicate this with whatever your favorite colors are. Dad in Navy shorts and white top. Mom in Navy or white print dress. One son in khaki shorts with white top. One son in white shorts with Navy top, girl in navy print. ahhhh

Below are some nice color combos from sessions I’ve photographed. What combo is your favorite.
