What happens if it rains on our beach session day?

Ahhh the dreaded question. Even though the Truman Show was filmed here (Seaside)…. we don’t have any domes to shield us from the rain. SO… on the day of the shoot, I promise I’m checking the weather more than you are. If it looks like rain at your scheduled time, I’m watching no less than 4 apps and radars to determine if we can start early to avoid the rain. I’m also considering the cloud cover AND the wind. If it’s too cloudy… it can be great for pictures but it’ll look darker sooner, so I’d want to start early. If the wind is over 20mph… then I will suggest a park location for most of the pics with only the beach for some windy candids…. or if there is a suitable time available, I’ll suggest to reschedule.

Back to the rain. I do NOT cancel early. The weather apps are pretty much not super accurate. They try. So it can say rain and then not rain. I usually just show up early and see how it looks and go for it. Now, I don’t just show up…I’ll let you know if we should start earlier haha.

The only time I’ll cancel early is if it’s a downpour and shows 100% for several hours. Then it’s pretty likely to keep raining and/or be real wet everywhere. No bueno. If it’s not raining and says it might…then it’s a wait and see kind of situation.

If we do get rained out, I will attempt to reschedule you. I save mornings for rain-outs but it just doesn’t happen that often. I will also usually have a late afternoon timeslot to move you to as well. But we will attempt to reschedule if it rains at your appointment time. If we cannot reschedule you that day, then I’ll refund your deposit. Easy peasy. 🙂
